J.K. Rowling Reveals Plans For Her ‘Fantastic Beasts’ Series Will Be Spread Over Five Films

Moviegoers looking forward to returning to the Harry Potter universe with “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” might want to see if their cineplex sells season tickets.

Potter author J.K. Rowling announced Thursday that the movie, due out November 18, will be the first of five in the “Fantastic Beasts” series, Deadline reports. Rowling had originally committed to only a trilogy. There were eight “Harry Potter” films.

Film director David Yates also promised that the new movie will include a cameo by a young Albus Dumbledore, well-known to Potter fans as the headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Dumbledore is mentioned briefly in a “Fantastic Beasts” trailer as one of the Hogwarts teachers who argued against Scamander being kicked out of Hogwarts for “endangering human life with a beast.”

Actor Michael Gambon, who played Dumbledore in the films after the death of Richard Harris, the first actor to play the role, told the U.K. Express back in January that he’d love to be in the film.

“They’ve got a Dumbledore,” Gambon said at the time. “They’ll have a young Dumbledore, won’t they? But I could be his dad. They could flash back to me.”
