We always hear about actors “shadowing” real people in preparation for a part, but what happened last night to Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña takes that concept to a whole new level. The two celebs were riding with LAPD to research their upcoming movie roles, when suddenly they were thrust into a full-blown crime scene!
Radar Online captured footage of the two stars looking stunned in downtown Los Angeles. Paramedics and firemen can be seen in the shot too, apparently wheeling out a gunshot victim on a stretcher.
Reports claim that the young man had been shot multiple times by gang members, but is expected to survive. Michael, as you know, was probably more equipped to deal with the situation than Jake. Having acted in heavy flicks likeWorld Trade Center and Battle: Los Angeles, we’re sure he’s seen gruesome scenes before.
Jake, on the other hand, is more known for his roles in romantic comedies andperiod pieces, so being in the middle of a downtown shootout probably came as quite a shock. You can see what kind of impact it has on their performances, when their movie (tentatively titled End of Watch) hits theaters next year.
