Jencarlos Canela has joined forces with the International Rescue Committee to help aid war and disaster victims around the world. The “Más Sabe el Diablo” star is the latest voice in the campaign to raise awareness about the difficult experiences refugees face and help victims of global crises.
The Cuban-American star has been volunteering with the IRC in Miami for several years and felt personally connected to their mission since his father exiled from Cuba in the 1980’s on the Mariel Boatlift.
Canela expressed his support of the program by declaring:
“I very much identify with the IRC’s mission to help children and their families fleeing dangerous situations. I can’t think of a more rewarding use of my time than to use my voice to support their life-saving work. Being able to help people in need is my dream.”
The IRC was created by Albert Einstein in 1933. Now the organization has countless of celebrity supporters including Paul McCartney and George Clooney. Thankfully you don’t have to be a celeb to get involved! Visit the International Rescue Committee and find out how you can help today!
