Actress Jenna Ortega, who stars as Harley Diaz on Disney Channel’s hit family comedy “Stuck in the Middle” and voices the role of Princess Isabel in Disney’s #1 animated series “Elena of Avalor,” introduces her real-life family and their favorite cultural traditions in a special interstitial commemorating Hispanic Heritage Month, airing SEPTEMBER 15 – October 15 on Disney Channel.
Just as creative engineering whiz kid Harley Diaz navigates life as the middle child in a family of seven children in “Stuck in the Middle,” Ortega balances life as a middle child of six children in real life. In the special interstitial, the cameras follow Ortega and her family, including her five siblings, parents, nephew and great-aunt, as they share their favorite traditions, love for their family and rich heritage.
About Disney Channel featuring her family in this commemorative interstitial, Ortega said “Sharing the cameras with my family was very, very different. It was funny seeing them react to cameras being around. I love them very much. We’re very proud of who we are and where we come from.”
As part of Disney Channel’s Hispanic Heritage Month celebration, Jenna will host a week-long programming event (September 19-23) featuring episodes of “Elena of Avalor” introduced by the popular young star, culminating with the premiere of a new episode on Friday, September 23 at 7:30 p.m. EDT. In the episode titled “Finders Leapers,” Elena’s cousin, Esteban, accidentally releases a mischievous duende, a magical elf-like creature based on Latino folklore, who sets out on a mission to unleash hundreds of other duendes on Avalor.
