On May 27, Fox News reported that actress Jennifer Esposito, former “Blue Bloods” star, had “skipped town months after her gluten-free bakery Jennifer’s Way was hit with a $43 million lawsuit.” That report said that the actress had split for Denmark for an unspecified length of time.
Investors filed the suit against Esposito in March. One of the complainants in that lawsuit is her estranged husband, British model Louis Dowler who filed the suit against her along with other investors alleging that Jennifer’s Way is losing money.
The suit claims that Esposito “redirected the company’s website to her personal blog and told consumers the products couldn’t be trusted,” according to Fox. The lawsuit also states that “Esposito has instilled and promoted a groundless and downright false sense of fear that the very same products with the same recipes, coming from the same facility, that she once stood behind, are now unsafe to consume.”
Given as the primary reason for Esposito fleeing the U.S. was the actress’s need to work through all of her legal issues. Esposito is currently in the midst of divorce proceedings with Dowler, whom she married in 2014. She was formerly married to actor Bradley Cooper.
But also on Friday, Esposito went on her Facebook page to say that she hadn’t bolted for Demark. Updating her status and posting a picture of herself along with visitors to Jennifer’s Way, she wrote “This family came a long way to make it to my bakery today. So happy I wasn’t in Denmark. This is the ONLY reason I’m still doing this, for people like this and the little ones who simply want a safe clean cupcake who otherwise could not. Shame on anyone who tries to tarnish what I’ve done here and will continue to do. These are the people you really hurt. That says a hell of lot more about you then me. – FOX NEWS PAGE SIX and others”
Esposito also posted several videos to her Facebook page showing her in her New York City bakery, according to CBS News.
