Joan Rivers Blows Up and Leaves During CNN interview

Joan Rivers stormed out of an on-air interview with CNN’s Fredericka Whitfield after the television news anchor called the comedian’s E! shows “Fashion Police” mean.

“This whole interview is becoming a defensive interview,” Rivers said, after being asked a series of questions about her comedic style.

The kerfuffle began during the intro and continued after the anchor asked the comedian about boundaries or limits to comedy, which seemed to put Rivers on the defense.

“Life is very tough. If you can make a joke to make something easier, and fun, do it,” Rivers said on the show.  The comedian continued to defend style of humor before her final on-camera words:  “You are not the one to interview a person who does humor, sorry,” she said before storming out.

Whitfield wondered aloud if the comedian was serious.

“Yeah, she was serious, and I thought she was joking the whole time. But, in the end, we wondered, ‘Was this a stunt?’ Well, Rivers didn’t return to the interview Off camera, she kept her microphone on as she continued to talk and dropped some rather unflattering four-letter words,” said Whitfield. “Yeah, she was serious.”
