The other week we mentioned how John Leguizamo was a very busy man. And now he’s added one more project to his plate, the hard-hitting MTV documentary Inocente.
John will be executive producing the primetime special, which follows the life of a homeless teen Latina. What makes this doc extra interesting is the fact that its star is also an undocumented immigrant.
Leguizamo told The Hollywood Reporter that he’s very proud of Inocente and encouraged other Hispanic celebs to get behind similar projects.
“Some actors like Sean Penn are very political in their lives and I admire that,” he said. “But a lot of people won’t do it because of the backlash…I wish Latin athletes, actors, producers who have so much power would do more. I don’t hear them speaking up enough about an issue like immigration.”
You can catch Inocente tonight at 10pm on MTV.
