“Fast and Furious 6” may still be making major dollars at the box office worldwide ($500 million and counting), but franchise regular Jordana Brewster has already landed a role in a film that may very well be another smash hit.
Brewster, who is half-Brazilian, has just landed the female lead of “American Heist.” The action thriller is a remake of the 1959 film ‘St. Louis Bank Robbery” and features “Star Wars” actor Hayden Christensen, singer Akon and “The Pianist” star Adrien Brody, reports Deadline.
The film – which has already begun shooting in New Orleans, Louisiana on a reported $10 million budget – features the story of two brothers, each with a dark past. Their lives become even more intertwined when criminals involved with a gang test their loyalty as brothers, reports Deadline, as greed and family allegiance loom large.
Brewster – who will play Mia Toretto once again in the seventh installment of the “Fast” franchise – has kept busy with projects outside the franchise that made her famous. She recently signed on to join the cast of “North of Hell” opposite Patrick Wilson and Katherine Heigl and continues to film “Dallas,” a television prime time drama where she plays brainy engineer and series lead Elena Ramos.
