Josh Trank, The Director To Helm Boba Fett Origin Movie, Gets Fired Before Spin Off Can Launch

MR. HOLMES - Trailer Release, Film Opens July 17 2

After what seems like a constant influx of rumors and spoilers surrounding the second Star Wars Anthology spin off, standalone movie, we can now pretty much confirm that Boba Fett is the subject of the upcoming film. In fact, this new project is described as an origin movie, giving fans of the bounty hunter a deeper look into his past, learning how he became the legend we all fell in love with in Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. This will be the fourth Star Wars film to hit theaters after The Force Awakens, Rogue One, and Episode VIII. With director Josh Trank leaving the Disney and Lucasfilm project last week, how will this film progress from now until its 2018 release date!

When we first heard rumors of this spin off film, reports claimed Lawrence Kasdan, who scripted Empire Strikes Back, would write this new movie. Since he was then brought on to help finish the Force Awakens script with J.J. Abrams, Simon Kinberg was hired for this new project.

According to The Wrap, the rumors of a Boba Fett movie have been all but confirmed this week, with very little plot details revealed. Though the “origin story” description has been confirmed, that might not be the entire film’s story. We’ll have to wait and see, wont we!
