Not unlike many brides, Kaley Cuoco wanted her wedding dress to show off her own style. She did that perfectly by choosing a non-traditional dress. Instead of opting for the usual white, Cuoco married in a beautiful pink wedding dress, suiting her taste and bubbly personality.
The Big Bang Theory star married her new husband, Ryan Sweeting, on New Year’s Eve, and it was a party for everyone to remember. One of the main highlights was the seven-tier cake, which hung from the ceiling—another sign that the couple wanted something other than traditional.
The 28-year-old actress had been dating Sweeting for three months before he proposed. They were engaged for another three months before their nuptials. While many may worry that this is another celebrity couple rushing into marriage, Cuoco believes differently. She told Entertainment Tonight that she “just knew immediately.” The pair had grown up around the same people and had the same friends, but they simply had never met. She explained that she feels like she has known him her whole life.
Sweeting is two years younger than Cuoco, but is no stranger to the public eye. The Bahamian-born man is a professional tennis player for the United States.
She initially welcomed guests in an eye-catching red dress, but changed in time to say “I do.” Cuoco decided on a non-traditional pink wedding dress to marry in. This is not just the pastel pink that some brides choose. It was a bright pink custom-made dress from Vera Wang.
Wang is known for pushing the boundaries when it comes to wedding dresses. Her 2013 collection hosted a series of scarlet dresses, but the 2014 collection is a range of pinks, including fuchsias and coral pinks.
Cuoco is definitely not the first celebrity bride to choose a non-traditional color or style. She joins the ranks of Anne Hathaway and Gwen Stefani, among many others.
Why would she choose a red dress to greet her guests, though? Cuoco and Sweeting opted for a fire and ice theme. The Santa Susana Hummingbird Nest Ranch was elaborately decorated with beautiful white and yellow flowers to match the theme, while guests wore darker colors to make the decorations stand out.
The couple let fans see their big day rather quickly, with Cuoco sharing a photo of her upside down wedding cake by Butter End in Santa Monica online just before Sweeting took a piece to push into her face. She also shared a photo of herself kissing her new husband on Twitter with the caption “Yep #thesweetings.” She later shared a range of photos taken from the day on her Instagram profile for fans to see just how happy the couple are.
Their wedding saw the turn of the New Year. The nuptials were said at around 10pm on New Year’s Eve, making it the last celebrity wedding of 2013.
The wedding was anything but traditional, which is perfect for the couple. From the upside down wedding cake to marrying in a beautiful pink wedding dress, Cuoco and Sweeting definitely have a day to remember.
