Kanye West Given Carte Blache To Do WHATEVER He Wants For This Weekends VMAs

Kanye West will allegedly be able to do whatever he wants on the VMA stage for four minutes, according to TMZ in a report that has been confirmed by Pitchfork. The show’s producers, apparently, do not have any idea what he will decide to do.

West has an infamous history with the VMAs. In 2009, he famously stormed the stage during Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech for Best Female Video. “Yo Taylor, I’m really happy for you, Imma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time…one of the best videos of all time!” he said into the mic before being booed off the stage. This moment would later serve as the inspiration behind West’s controversial “Famous” lyric that lead to FamousGate.

The pair appeared to reconcile their differences at the 2015 VMAs when Swift introduced West before he accepted the Video Vanguard Award, delivering one of the most memorable rants speeches of all time as he told everyone to “listen to the kids, bro” and vowed to run for president in 2020.

Of course, West has also performed at the VMAs six times, which means that he could use this opportunity to rap one of his cuts of The Life of Pablo or the long-anticipated Cruel Winter album that features the previously released “Champions.” It should be noted that the VMAs are going down in New York City’s iconic Madison Square Garden this year, which is the same place where West debuted Pablo less than a year ago. West and Travi$ Scott also recently jumped on a remix of Alicia Keys’ “In Common” that would be pretty incredible to see performed live.

The VMAs have already released an impressive list of performs for this year’s show including Video Vanguard recipient Rihanna, Future, Ariana Grande with Nicki Minaj, Britney Spears with G-Eazy, Nick Jonas with Ty Dolla $ign, and the Chainsmokers with Halsey. Not to mention, Kim Kardashian West has been tapped as one of this year’s award presenters and West’s good friend Beyoncé leads this year’s nominations.

When pressed for more information, an MTV spokesperson told Complex, “We can confirm he’s attending.” We can only imagine what might go down when the VMAs air this Sunday August 28.
