One of Kanye West‘s current legal scuffles is the case of the paparazzo who filed misdemeanor charges against him after an incident at LAX on July 19. The photographer filed charges of criminal battery and attempted grand theft against West, after he allegedly tried to remove a camera from the photographer’s hands. West pleaded not guilty last year. Today was the hearing. As TMZ reports, West will not be prosecuted. He has pleaded no contest, which means the attempted grand theft charge has been dismissed. He’s on informal probation for two years, and if he doesn’t violate probation, the conviction will likely be erased from his record. West is required to complete 250 hours of community service and attend 24 private anger management sessions. He also has to pay for the photographer’s equipment and medical bills. The photographer was allegedly taken to the hospital after the incident and sustained injuries. West was also sued by the paparazzo. As previously noted, West claimed self-defense in a legal statement, saying “his safety was in immediate danger” and he “responded to this assault by doing only those acts that were reasonably necessary for his self-defense”. Watch the video below and see if you agree with West’s actions.
