Did you know that you don’t have to dress up when you go vote in the general election on November 8? That’s the message Katy Perry is trying to get across in her new sketch for Funny or Die, which dropped on September 26, the same day as the first presidential election. Katy’s hilarious video shows her literally rolling out of bed, popcorn (and a dart!?) still stuck in her crazy hair, to break the good news: “this year, you can look like sh*t when you vote on election day!”
This is amazing. Katy rolls up to her designated polling station and says that after “briefly scanning the constitution,” she’s figured out that everyone can just show up in “whatever state you woke up in.” For example, you can be a hunk wearing some kids’ briefs, or wearing an XL promo t-shirt, or even covered in slime, and you can still come out to vote for Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump on November 8. No excuses. Well, there’s one exception. Katy was mistaken in thinking that you can show up naked.
Even if you sleep in the nude, you can’t go to the polls wearing nothing at all, okay? Let’s get that straight! It’s definitely illegal, and you won’t be able to cast your vote! Because Katy skimmed the constitution, when she “let’s those babies loose,” the police immediately show up and handcuff her, then throw her in the back of a squad car. Surprise! Joel McHale thought you could vote naked, too!
