You know how loving someone usually means letting your guard down? Yeahhhh, file that under “easier said than done.” In reality, actually letting your guard down feels like that Natalie Imbruglia line from the song “Torn“: “I’m all out of faith/ This is how I feel/ I’m cold and I am shamed/ Lying naked on the floor.” (Well, when letting your guard down doesn’t end well, that is.)
Lucky for us, Katy Perry‘s new “Unconditionally” lyric video delves into the positive side of letting that nasty ol’ guard down. (Even if we’re still lying naked on the floor. Hey, being emotionally transparent is hard!)
Slated to appear on Katy’s upcoming PRISM album (out Oct. 22), “Unconditionally”‘s lyric video features two very attractive models (Janell Shirtcliff and Erika Linder) naked from the neck down (oh hey, vulnerability metaphor). Shirtcliff, a long-haired blonde, fervidly sings the song’s lyrics to Linder, who stares broodingly into the camera.
Pictured in stark black-and-white, Shirtcliff sings about loving someone despite all the “insecurities and dirty laundry”: “Unconditional, unconditionally/ I will love you unconditionally/ There is no fear now/ Let go and just be free/ I will love you unconditionally.”
Well, that sounds like our cue to peel our clothes off, curl up into the fetal position, listen to “Torn” on repeat, and have a serious sob session. Luckily, this stuff’s totally cathartic and healthy… Right? RIGHT?
