It seems as though Keith Richards has reignited his feud with pop princess Taylor Swift.
The Rolling Stones musician already ruffled the feathers of a few Swifties in 2015, when he cast a shadow on the singer’s credibility when he said: ‘While Taylor is a pretty girl, she’s just a “flavour of the month”.’ Ouch. Now it seems the 74-year-old rocker has opened a new can of worms in an interview with Wall Street Journal by saying in Taylor’s direction: ‘Good luck girl — wish her well while it lasts.’ He then added, ‘I’ve just been around too long to be picking the bones out of kids. It wouldn’t be fair of me and I’ve always been an opinionated bastard anyway.’
The guitarist’s comments are sure to have come as a shock to the 28-year-old who made a surprise appearance at the band’s Chicago concert in June 2013, and sang As Tears Go By. Afterwards the Bad Blood hitmaker couldn’t believe her luck and exclaimed: ‘I just got off stage and played with the Rolling Stones.
‘You know, that’s not something that I thought would happen in my life. ‘The way that you see them give everything they have for every single performance, that’s what makes fans loyal to them, and that’s been a huge influence on my entire outlook on my career.’ With Richards not having any kind words to return to the superstar, perhaps he’s secretly miffed!
During the Nashville stop of her world tour in September 2015, she invited the group’s lead singer Mick Jagger to be a surprise guest. There the duo performed their own take on the hit track (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction. There’s always next time Keith!
