The doctors of Seattle Grace may have said goodbye to Kim Raver‘s character, Teddy Altman, but Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes isn’t quite ready to let this doctor go.

Rhimes admitted that she would be game for creating a spinoff of the show centered around Raver’s character, involving her adventures in the U.S. Army Medical Command, the agency she left Seattle Grace for. In the Grey’s finale, Terry got let go by Owen, played by Kevin McKidd, so she could take a job with MEDCOM.

Raver thought it was an emotional, yet appropriate exit for Terry. She said,

“The table read [for the finale] was just so emotional. You work really together as a family, and so even though you know it’s a storyline, there’s so much happening on so many different levels.”

Kim cried reading her final script, which also had Lexie Grey, played by Chyler Leigh, leaving the show. Leigh’s character, however, was not so lucky as Raver’s, as Lexie died in a plane crash while Terry took another job. It was sad nonetheless. Kim confessed she was “sobbing, sobbing, sobbing, because there is no going back.”

Shonda is not ruling out a surprise appearance on the show for Terry in the future, nor the possibility of Terry moving on to another show. Rhimes stated,

“I love Kim; she’s amazing. I don’t know, I think maybe it’d be cool one day if she could come back. We’ll see.”

Kim is also on board with the idea. She said,

“I think that would be great fun. I love working together with [Shonda]. I think  that she’s sort of one of a kind, so yeah, to be able to do a Teddy spin -off would be quite fun!”

That sounds like a great idea. I would like to see Raver play a more jacked-up medic role, like when she starred in Third Watch as a paramedic. Come on ladies, let’s make this happen!
