Kylie Minogue Is Fighting Kylie Jenner Over Name Trademark

Kylie Minogue and Kylie Jenner are set to go head-to head over legal ownership of their names, it has been reported.

The pop princess has enlisted Australian-based KDB to file an opposition to the American reality star’s application to trademark their shared moniker, according to The Sun

Last year, the 18-year-old filed the application to trademark ‘Kylie’ for ‘entertainment in the nature of providing information by means of a global computer network in the fields of entertainment, fashion and pop culture’.

However, court documents reveal that the Australian songstress has opposed the request on the grounds it could cause confusion for fans and also dilute the Minogue brand.

In the papers, Jenner is described as a ‘supporting character’ in Keeping Up With the Kardashians, and is criticised for her ‘photographic exhibitionism’ on social media, which has brought some criticism from disability rights’ groups.

It states: ‘Ms. Jenner is a secondary reality television personality who appeared on the television series ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ as a supporting character, to Ms. Jenner’s half sisters, Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney Kardashian (i.e. the Kardashians).

‘Ms. Jenner is active on social media where her photographic exhibitionism and controversial posts have drawn criticism from, e.g., the Disability Rights and African-American communities.’

In December Kylie shocked fans across the world when she posed in a wheelchair for a glossy fashion shoot with Interview magazine, which provoked an outcry from disability rights groups.

Meanwhile, Minogue is described as an ‘internationally renowned performing artist, humanitarian, and breast cancer activist’ in the documents of opposition.
