Los Angeles, CA (February 20, 2020) – After releasing “Quién Me La Paga” last week, La Doña, born Cecilia Cassandra Peña-Govea, is sharing the music video. Directed by Naomi Garcia Pasmanick, the visual is an exciting counter-part to the Cumbia-led anthem which finds her performing the track amongst loved ones at a family gathering.
“Quién Me La Paga” is the second visual from La Doña‘s upcoming debut EP Algo Nuevo, due March 12th via Human Re-Sources, following “Le Lo Lai.” The artist composes songs influenced heavily by Bay Area hyphy styles, lowrider culture, Mission muralismo, and musica de la (U.S./Mexico) frontera. Her music explores radical brown femininity alongside love and pain.
The video also arrives ahead of La Doña‘s EP release show at The Chapel in San Francisco on March 12th where she’ll be joined by Sazon Libre, Chulita Vinyl Club, and Mariachi Juvenil La Misión. Tickets are available here. She’ll then head down to Austin for SXSW.
After touring North America in support of Cuco, opening for legendary Mexican rock group Cafe Tacvba, and being named one of YouTube Music’s Foundry artists with past alumni including Rosalía, Dua Lipa, Chloe X Halle, and Gunna, La Doña is entering 2020 in full force.
