Los Angeles, CA (March 12, 2015) – “Mujer Soy” (I am Woman) is the second video produced and directed by Las Cafeteras, “La Bamba Rebelde” being the first.  The video unveils a day in the real life of Maryann Aguirre, a young and fierce woman of color from the Eastside of Los Angeles. It follows her as she faces the daily challenges of work, single motherhood, and the pressures of being a community leader, however; she faces those obstacles with hope, resolve, patience, and dignity.

In order to capture the essence of a Chicana from Boyle Heights, Las Cafeteras collaborated with Eastside collective, ELEFANTE, as the videographers.  The music video was filmed over 3 days in Boyle Heights in two community spaces (La Concha, InnerCity Struggle), on the streets, and inside Maryann’s home.
“This is a song calling out the injustices done to women, but also highlighting the POWER and resiliency women inherently possess. The video captures this message beautifully!” affirms Denise Carlos, member of Las Cafeteras.

With their 3rd released music video from their album “It’s Time,” the band is busy recording their 2nd studio album, which is anticipated to be released in Fall 2015.  The band is also planning a National Summer and Fall Tour this year, which will take them to festivals and performance venues across the U.S. and into Canada.
