Both women have the kind of healthy relationship with their bodies some headlines would patronizingly praise as “brave.”
But a new photoshoot starring Lena Dunham and Jemima Kirke presents the act of hanging out, near naked, raw and unposed, as no big deal.
Remember the last time you saw a lingerie campaign where the models weren’t stiff, posed and size nothing? Neither can we. Maybe that’s what made Dunham and Kirke say yes to being part of New Zealand luxury label Lonely Lingerie’s #LonelyGirlsProject.
The label’s ongoing photographic series candidly celebrates the diversity of young, creative women from all over the world on their website, usually shot in their own homes.
The stars of TV show Girls are just the latest in a long line of women to be featured by the brand, who see their demographic as women “who wear lingerie as a love letter to themselves.”
Oh, and it was shot by an all-girl dream team. Photographed by cult creative and Kiwi, Zara Mirkin, the photographs seem to be the result of a big hang out sesh rather than a hyper-planned campaign in the traditional sense.
And in a win for un-free nipples everywhere, Instagram have yet to remove this image from the Lonely Lingerie account. Nipples have had to be emoji-censored for less! Great work, team.
