Lin-Manuel Miranda, who announced he would be dropping Hamilton content on each month of 2018, recently debuted a video dedicated to his grandma. “Wrote My Way Out,” which features Nas, Dave East, and Aloe Blacc, pays tribute to the playwright’s grandmother, Edmunda Claudio, who passed away last Christmas.
“I know Abuela’s never really gonna win the lottery, so it’s up to me to draw blood with this pen, hit an artery,” the Puerto Rican star says in the song. A few days after his grandmother passed, Miranda shared with his social media followers a precious photo of Abuela Mundi.
Abuela Mundi passed away this Christmas morning. I may have more words in the days to come but for now my heart is in pieces and that’s where it’s gonna be for a bit. pic.twitter.com/f9Iia15Z9n

The Hamilton Mixtape features “Wrote My Way Out,” upon many others, which will be released later on this year. While seeing Hamilton may be out of the question given that tickets sell out extremely fast, we are excited to see what else the soon-to-be father-of-two has in store the next few months.
Following the drop of the video, he received an overwhelming response of support on Twitter:
And your verse will always speak to my heart. Said that before but bears repeating. pic.twitter.com/8UWfsHIuh6
