That’s not all, folks. According to THR, actress and comedian Jenny Slate has been hired to write a new “Looney Tunes” movie for Warner Bros. The untitled film would be the first “Looney Tunes” feature since 2003’s “Looney Tunes: Back in Action.” That film, which mixed live action and animation, grossed $68 million worldwide, but only $20 million in North America.

Slate is tasked with rebooting the franchise, with the idea that the new film would also mix live-action stars and animated characters, something that has become more popular in recent years thanks to the successes of “Alvin and the Chipmunks” and “The Smurfs.”

David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith are set to produce, along with David Heyman, one of the driving forces behind the “Harry Potter” franchise.

Slate, who recently married filmmaker Dean Fleischer-Camp, was excited about the “Looney Tunes” news, writing on Twitter that she “luvs” rabbits. The actress — who has appeared on the HBO series “Girls” and provided a voice for recent animated film “The Lorax” — is best known for her one-season appearance on “Saturday Night Live.” (Slate infamously swore during a sketch.) She and Fleischer-Camp also produced the outstanding short film “Marcel The Shell With Shoes On,” which was viewed over 18 million times on YouTube and spawned a book deal. Slate provided the voice of Marcel.
