Louis C.K. Wins ‘Jeopardy’ And Donates All $50 Thousand To Charity

There is perhaps no greater joy in the world than watching a comedian crush a game of Jeopardy! and upset a pair of professional journalists. Louis C.K., fresh off the revelation that his beloved FX series Louie is likely done for good, did exactly that on Wednesday’s broadcast of the popular game show. His opponents, Washington Post journalist Jonathan Capehart and CNN anchor Kate Bolduan, were indeed the losers in this rare moment of game show justice.

“I’ve been watching Jeopardy! since I was a kid,” Louis said of the big night. “So it’s funny to be on. It’s great.” Though Louis admitted he was initially “scared” that his journalist rivals would actually out-funny him during the broadcast, his $50,000 victory rendered that fear pretty damn irrelevant.

The winnings will go straight to the Fistula Foundation, an organization dedicated to providing support for women with the childbirth injury of the same name. According to the foundation’s official website, as many as 1 million women across the world suffer from untreated obstetric fistula. An obstetric fistula is a hole between the vagina and bladder or rectum caused by prolonged labor, an injury that often results in the woman losing control of defecation or urination.

“Obstetric fistula devastates the lives of some of the poorest women in this world, sometimes for decades—yet it is an injury that can be treated for $586 on average, often in less than an hour,” Jessica Love, the Fistula Foundation’s Vice President of Communications, told Complex. “Louis C.K.’s big win last night is a huge win for women—the $50,000 he won means 85 women’s lives can be transformed forever. And the visibility he raised for our very focused issue has already brought attention and donations to our cause.

The comedian, who recently surprise-released his critically acclaimed new series Horace and Pete, has a long relationship with the organization. Back in 2011, he made back-to-back donations of $20,000 each. In 2014, Louis tweeted about the Fistula Foundation, giving the organization a major boost that briefly crashed their website.

“We are honored and thrilled that Louis C.K. has chosen Fistula Foundation to be ‘his’ charity,” Kate Grant, the Fistula Foundation CEO, told Complex. “The selflessness and generosity of people like Louis C.K. are changing the future for women with fistula. Louis C.K. has been an unlikely partner and a powerful champion of our work, and more women’s lives have been forever changed for the better because of him.”

Time to update your bio, Louis C.K. You’re clearly an unmatched Jeopardy! pro.
