One of the classical segments of the Academy Awards is dedicated to the memory of those who are no longer and they died this past year. However, this time they forgot a very important Latin star not only to the Hispanic community by representing, but also to Hollywood where it gave many satisfactions.

George Clooney was who led the segment entitled “In Memoriam”, for those actors, producers, technicians and employees in general of the seventh art than that died during the year. An extensive list with photos, their positions and the most important work they did was on a giant screen and was respected in silence and applauded by his peers.

Then came the moment that Barbra Streisand interpreted “Memories”. But there was someone whom the majority of latinos expected in this recollection, Lupe Ontiveros, who died on 26 July 2012 and the Academy ignored completely.

This star born in Texas and Mexican roots filmed nearly 40 films in the United States, the last in the final production stage and to be released after his death. His interpretation of Yolanda Saldivar in “Selena” turned the world, same film that took almost from anonymity to Jennifer Lopez, however the Academy did not remember it.

Complaints among fans and celebrities were swift and many were those who expressed themselves and complained through social networks like Carlos Ponce who put on his Twitter account:

#Oscar2013 Miss you Lupe Ontiveros. The Academy slipped a great actress, person and friend.

From here we recall it, applaud their achievements, all what you gave us and we honor his memory forever Lupe Ontiveros.
