Music lovers in Mexico City got quite a treat over the weekend. To help celebrate cultural pride, Marc Anthony and Chayanne hosted a free concert at Zocalo Plaza for more than 100,000 fans.
The massive event was organized by Mexico City mayor Miguel Angel Mancera. According to Hispanically Speaking, the newly-elected official wanted to bring music to locals who lacked the funds to pay for expensive shows.
And boy did they show up. The mostly female crowd cheered through Marc’s first set and actually accompanied Chayanne with an audience participation version of “Boom, Boom.”
Clearly both performers were thrilled to be a part of the experience, with Anthony saying, “I’ve seen a lot of things in my life, but this is incredible!”
