México City, MX (April 23, 2021) — Mexican pride is everything when it comes to these two projects that have made a name for themselves in their respective industries. Mexican Institute of Sound brings his artistry to join innovative streetwear brand, Pay’s in a collection of limited-edition garments inspired by the artwork from his new album, Distrito Federal.
The collection combines the “emerging and irreverent” the brand is known for with Distrito Federal’s album designed by Oscar Reyes, and whose codices embodied in the garments are by the artist Urbano Mata: “Translations of the contemporary imaginary to Mesoamerican aesthetics”.
Like a two-handed love letter to a city that no longer exists, Pay’s retook the album’s artwork to use as a canvas for the three-piece limited collection. The collaboration includes a reinvented poncho-serape, as fresh and as traditional in vibrant colors, a sweater with the album’s graphic and sweatpants.
The brand is well-known for their streetwear and postmodern garments everyone recognizes at first glance in México City and demonstrates that fashion is not only found on the catwalks, but on the urban streets of the city where you will find vibrant colors and fearless styles similar to the style Camilo Lara has conquered for the past 15 years with his incomparable music.
“Pay’s is a brand that I have been a fan of for a very long time and a brand from the neighborhood where I live, which represents the city i love. So, I think it was very fortunate to meet and collaborate as partners in this adventure of transforming the album’s artwork into pieces of clothing”, says Camilo Lara about this artistic collaboration.
“Pay’s has always been a collaborative brand, we loved the idea that this collaboration reflects the Mexican folklore in a contemporary way. We reimagined the poncho and took the colors to another level with a modern tint.”
“It’s a very important mix, real brands that are seen on the street and everyone knows, that’s what made us a great match. That’s the way we are presenting and marketing the merch for the new MIS album, it is an honor. It is also an honor to lead the Mexican and Latin American fashion scene,” explains Raúl Rojo, founding partner of Pay’s.
Mexican Institute of Sound x Pay’s limited-edition collaboration is available today, April 23 at Pay’s shop in CDMX and online at: https://ppaayyss.com
