After over 30 years in the movie business, Mickey Rourke is more than overdue for a footprints-in-cement ceremony at Hollywood’s Chinese Theatre. This past Monday he got his shot. And though Mickey’s built a reputation as a “tough guy,” you could tell he was genuinely touched by the honor.
“I’m a little numb to it all,” he said at the event. “I didn’t sleep last night because I was kinda confused about what this all means or supposed to mean or how it important it so I think in time, it’ll mean something to me.”
Of course, the timing of the ceremony wasn’t just coincidence. Rourke happens to be starring the highly anticipated Immortals movie, which hits theaters next week. His performance as King Hyperion is already generating a ton of buzz among epic fantasy film fans.
But sadly, Mickey’s shining cement moment won’t last long. Later this week, his prints will be pushed aside for Kirsten Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner. The three Breaking Dawn stars are the next to receive the honor and are expected to bring huge crowds for their ceremony on November 3.
