NBC Adds Comedy Pilots from Roseanne Barr, ‘Friends’ Producer, ‘Hangover 2’ Scribe

NBC has picked up three comedies to pilot, including Roseanne Barr‘s Downwardly Mobile.

From former Roseanne exec producer Eric Gilliland, Downwardly Mobile marks Barr’s return to series television as the proprietor of a mobile home park and surrogate mother to all of the people who live there during a challenging economic time.

Barr will write and executive produce the 20th Television multicamera project alongside Gilliland, with John Argent also on board as an EP.

In addition, the fourth-place network is moving forward with Go On, from Friends and Joey writer Scott Silveri and Universal Television. The single-camera comedy revolves around a charming sportscaster who attempts to move on from loss and finds solace in among the members of his mandatory group therapy sessions.

Lastly, the network will produce a pilot for the single-camera office comedy Animal Kingdom, from The Hangover Part 2 writer Scot Armstrong. The project is described as a comedy centering on a House-like veterinarian who loves animals but typically hates their owners. Universal Television and American Work will produce, while Brian Gatewood and Alex Tanaka will pen the project and exec produce alongside Armstrong and Ravi Nandan.

The three projects join other NBC half-hour pilots Isabel, The Sarah Silverman Project, Save Me and the untitled Kari Lizer best friends comedy. Earlier Monday, NBC picked up drama pilots from Friday Night LightsJason Katims and Law & Order‘s Dick Wolf.
