NBC Sets Premiere Dates For ‘New Celebrity Apprentice’ & ‘Emerald City’ For The Start Of The New Year

NBC has set premiere dates for “The New Celebrity Apprentice” with Arnold Schwarzenegger and the Oz-inspired fantasy drama “Emerald City.”

“The New Celebrity Apprentice” will debut with its new host on Monday, Jan. 2 at 8 p.m. as a two-hour episode.

Returning without Donald Trump, “Apprentice” will feature new advisers Warren Buffett, Clippers owner Steve Ballmer, supermodel and businesswoman Tyra Banks, Honest Company founder Jessica Alba, and Schwarzenegger’s nephew, entertainment attorney Patrick Knapp Schwarzenegger.

The 16 celebrity contestants for Season 8 of “Celeb Apprentice” are Laila Ali, Brooke Burke-Charvet, Eric Dickerson, Boy George, Matt Iseman, Carrie Keagan, Carson Kressley, Lisa Leslie, Jon Lovitz, Vince Neil, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Kyle Richards, Chael Sonnen, Porsha Williams, Ricky Williams, and Carnie Wilson, who were all previously announced.

“Emerald City” will bow on Friday, Jan. 6 at 9 p.m. for a two-hour special event, though following episodes will run just one hour each.

“Emerald City” is airing after “Grimm” at 8 p.m., which is heading into its sixth and final season. Pairing the whimsical Oz-inspired series and the long-running fan-favorite supernatural drama is a good fit for the Friday night block of sci-fi, adventure programming.

Starring Adria Arjona as Dorothy and Vincent D’Onofrio as the Oz-like ruler, “Emerald City” is a darker spin on the “Wizard of Oz” tales. Described as epic, romantic and fantastical, the series follows 20-year-old Dorothy Gale (Arjona) and her K9 police dog, who, after a tornado, are transported to another world far away full of competing kingdoms, lethal warriors, dark magic and a bloody battle for supremacy.
