Nicolas Cage reportedly broke his ankle shooting his new movie.
The 53-year-old actor was injured in a “freak accident” while shooting “#211” in Bulgaria, according to Deadline.
Cage was rushed to the local hospital and then flown to Los Angeles for surgery. Film production is expected to be on hold for two weeks while he recovers.
The bank heist movie, directed by York Alec Shackleton, stars Cage as a cop trying to stop the incident — 211 is the police code for “robbery in progress.”
Amanda Cerny, Sophie Skelton and Michael Rainey Jr. also star in the movie, due out later this year.
Cage’s rep did not return a request for comment.
