Nick Jonas To Star On Broadway; Takes Over Darren Criss’ Role

The squealing should continue at Broadway’s Al Hirschfeld Theatre for the foreseeable future. Next year, Nick Jonas will take over the lead role in the hit musical revival How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. He’ll be filling the dancing shoes of Daniel Radcliffe, who’s playing ambitious corporate-ladder climber J. Pierrepont Finch through the end of the year after winning mostly rave reviews (and the attention of legions of teenage fans) when the show opened last March. Glee star Darren Criss, a teen heartthrob in his own right, will portray Finch from Jan. 3-22, 2012, and then the youngest of the Jonas Brothers trio is expected to step in.

The 18-year-old New Jersey native is no stranger to musical theater. He made his Broadway debut in 2001 in the musical revival Annie Get Your Gun, then played Chip in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast in 2002, and then young Gavroche in Les Misérables in 2003. The brothers have all been pursuing solo projects of late, and Nick has spent considerable time honing his stage skills. He played student leader Marius in London’s production of Les Miz for one month last summer, and starred as teen idol Link Larkin in a one-weekend-only run of Hairspray at the Hollywood Bowl last month.
