Looks like Zayn isn’t the only One Directioner pursuing a solo career: Billboard now reports that Harry Styles has signed a record contract with Columbia Records, separate from the rest of his bandmates.
There aren’t a ton of details about the deal yet, and it’s unclear when fans can expect solo music from the superstar. But as Billboard points out, this move has been a long time coming, and four songs performed and written by Harry were already registered with the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) last year.
Clearly, it’s been a busy few months for the singer, and not just because he might be pursuing a solo career: Harry is also currently filming his first non-documentary film, Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated Dunkirk, about the World War II battle of the same name.
With so many new experiences under his belt, it’s safe to say he’ll have a ton of material for some new music — but whether 1D fans will ever be able to recover from Harry’s and Zayn’s solo careers, only time will tell.
Here’s hoping One Direction will put out a reunion album in a couple years.
