“PACTO DE FUGA” Debuts Today in the US and Latin America on Amazon Prime Video
“PACTO DE FUGA” is the most successful Chilean film in the last 2 years. Director David Albala’s film, distributed by Fox, had more than 230,000 admissions since it was released in theaters at the end of January, and remained on the screen until mid-March when the Global Pandemic closed all cinemas in the country.
The movie, inspired by a real event that occurred in 1990, tells the story of how fifty political prisoners managed to escape from Santiago’s Public Prison through a tunnel of more than 80 meters long that took 18 months to dig with a single screwdriver, hiding 50 tons of land inside the prison without being discovered. This case was known as “Operation Success” and sought to release political prisoners who had been imprisoned during Pinochet’s military dictatorship.
Recently, the film had its International Premiere at the “23rd Shanghai International Film Festival” in the “Panorama” section. This event is one of the most important in Asia and the largest in China, being considered a Class A festival. The reception of the public was so good that it sold out all the tickets in the three screenings on which it was exhibited.
The film has been directed by David Albala (“Perspecplejia”), and features Benjamín Vicuña, Roberto Farías, Francisca Gavilán and Amparo Noguera.
