The X Factor isn’t the first singing competition show that Paulina Rubio has served as a judge on. And it appears that she’s now filing a lawsuit to get paid for her previous gig.
Prior to landing the gig as judge on X Factor, Paulina was a coach on the show La Voz… Mexico in 2012, and last year she served as a judge for Season 1 of La Voz Kids. Now, Paulina is reportedly suing Telemundo – the network behind La Voz Kids – for trying to give her the boot prior to the show’s upcoming second season, according to TMZ.
Paulina claims she is owed $1.325 million for Season 2, so she is suing to get that amount, along with an additional $100K for Season 1 clips of her that have aired in the show’s ads. Whew.
Telemundo execs reportedly informed Paulina that she is being replaced because of scheduling conflicts due to her commitment to X Factor. However, Paulina apparently believes that the network decided to get rid of her because they found a cheaper judge. Telemundo’s rep has declined to comment.
Paulina joined X Factor‘s judging panel for Season 3 in 2013, along with Kelly Rowland. Paulina’s contestant, Carlito Olivero, came in third place in the competition.
