While we wait to see more of Josh Brolin’s Thanos, how about a little peek at Josh Brolin’s Cable?
With shooting on Deadpool 2 currently underway, Brolin and co-star Ryan Reynolds have shared the first official photos of Cable’s long-awaited big-screen debut.
First, here’s a closeup from Reynolds …

And here’s a better look at the costume, courtesy of Brolin:
We’re not entirely sure why there’s a teddy bear on his utility belt, but we’d hate to be the bad guy who finds out.
Cable’s got one of the more convoluted backstories in the Marvel Comics universe, and that’s really saying something. He’s the son of Cyclops and a Jean Grey clone, raised 2,000 years in the future and then brought back to the present as an adult.
As of right now, it’s unclear how much of that history will make it into the movie. But we can probably expect some fourth-wall-breaking wisecracks about how complicated Cable’s story is, as well as some zingers about Brolin’s Cable vs. Brolin’s Thanos.
Anyway, Brolin looks all very well and good, but we’re still eagerly waiting to see Deadpool and Cable in action together. They’re such a classic odd-couple pairing in the comics that they’ve even headlined their own title, Deadpool & Cable.
Deadpool 2 is scheduled for release on June 1, 2018.
