The readers of People En Español have selected the singer, songwriter and SESAC Latina affiliate Erika Ender as one of the 25 most powerful Latinas in the United States. She’s earned this distinction thanks to her musical achievements and her philanthropic work as founder of the Puertas Abiertas (Open Doors) Foundation in her native Panama, which supports at-risk children.
This recognition was made possible by an online poll in which Erika Ender received 37 percent of the vote after being nominated by the Venezuelan actress Gaby Espino. She, like many Latin celebrities, is well aware of Erika Ender’s support for music and dance education, and her foundation’s work in eradicating child labor.
Celebrating 15 years as an A-list composer, Erika Ender recently gave a concert titled EriKa AcústiKA, where she performed some of the hits she has written for such greats as Luis Fonsi, Chayanne, Gloria Trevi, Ednita Nazario, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Ana Bárbara, Víctor Manuelle, Los Horóscopos de Durango, Milly Quezada, Elvis Crespo, Giselle, Melina León, Ha*Ash, Luis Enrique, Malú, Jaci Velásquez and Azúcar Moreno, among others.
People En Español’s edition naming the 25 most powerful Latinas is scheduled for the October 10, 2014, issue.
