When it comes to big popcorn fantasy movie soundtrack cuts, you can do a lot worse than Pink’s “Just Like Fire.” It’s a booming ballad from Alice Through The Looking Glass with a hip hop bent that reunites the pixie-haired singer with Max Martin andShellback, who produced some of Pink’s biggest hits (see “So What,” “Raise Your Glass” and “Fuckin’ Perfect”).
It also sounds a bit familiar, like we’ve heard this one before. If I had to put my finger on it right here on the spot, I’d say that melody formed by the acoustic guitar riffs sounds like it’s been lifted out of Madonna’s “The Power Of Good-Bye.”
Anyway, be sure to wait for Pink’s rap in the middle. It’s really something. And if you’re itching to see Johnny Depp’s latest turn as the Mad Hatter, you’ll have to wait until May 27, when Alice Through The Looking Glass hits theaters.
