Mr. 305 might have to get used to being Mr. 907, at least for a couple of days. A Walmart social media promotion might soon be sending Pitbull to the icy elements of Kodiak, Alaska, thanks to Facebook and some internet prankster.
Walmart had the wonderful idea of sending the Miami rapper to whichever store got the most “likes” on their Facebook page. Contestants have until July 16 to vote for the store they want Pitbull to appear in. This means that anyone can choose any location of participating Walmart stores regardless of the city they live in.
A journalist from The Boston Globe thought it would be fun to troll Pitbull and send him to the most remote area in Alaska to make his coveted Walmart appearance. He started a campaign to get people on Facebook to like the Kodiak store. The Alaska Walmart had over 35,000 “likes” earlier this week, and a significant lead as Pitbull’s destination.
Walmart spokeswoman Sarah Spencer commented,
“I know Pitbull is hoping his Miami Walmart shoppers start liking their Facebook page.”
Pitbull assures fans he will visit whichever location has the most votes by July 16. He said, in a statement from Austria,
“Wherever the fans want to have a party, I will be there.”
Pitbull is having fun with the Walmart promotion, even tweeting,
“I hear there’s bear repellant at Kodiak, Alaska (at)walmartspecials.”
Glad to hear Pitbull is taking it all in good stride.
Where would you like to see Pitbull make an in-store appearance?
