A musician so iconic he joins Madonna and Cher in the ranks of single-name fame has announced a planned multi-show residency at the United Center next month.

Tickets go on sale next week for a Sept. 24 Prince concert titled “Welcome 2 Chicago,” according to Livenation, with prices ranging from $49.50 to $149.50 per seat.

While only one show has been announced, the show is being called a “residency” and compared to similar stints in New York and Los Angeles, where he was in town for a “21 night stand,” according to LA Weekly.

The concert series will be the musician’s first performance in Chicago since 2004, according to BizWeekly. It’s part of a larger “Welcome 2 America” tour partnered with Rebuild the Dream, an economic advocacy program that provides education and lobbying support on behalf of low-income and struggling middle-class Americans.

Rebuild the Dream teams will be on site at the United Center to provide information about rebuilding sustainable communities, and connecting advocates with socially-conscious businesses, according to Consequence of Sound.

Rebuild the Dream founder Van Jones told STL Today that the partnership has already made an impact, and that Prince’s involvement is helping to further the movement.

“There are few artists who have Prince’s unwavering commitment to a vision of a sustainable, fair economic future,” he told the newspaper.
