One of the iconic motorcycle jackets that the late Prince wore in his 1984 film Purple Rain will go up for auction next month, according to the Associated Press. With an asking price between $6,000 and $8,000 — though expected to reach a much higher selling point — the black-and-white leather costume comes from an original seller who claims her sister was a makeup artist involved with the film.
“Prince memorabilia in general, it just really doesn’t exist. It seems like he controlled it all,” Joe Maddalena, president of the auction house Profiles in History, told the AP. “This is the first time ever for something like this, and it might be the only time because the rest of the costumes may be in his (personal) wardrobe.”
The auction will take place in June. Learn more here.
