QUEEN OF THE SOUTH tells the powerful story of Teresa Mendoza, a woman who is forced to run and seek refuge in America after her drug-dealing boyfriend is unexpectedly murdered in Mexico. In the process, she teams with an unlikely figure from her past to bring down the leader of the very drug trafficking ring that has her on the run. Based on the literary page-turner “La Reina Del Sur” by internationally acclaimed author Arturo Pérez Reverte, the series stars Alice Braga (“I Am Legend”) as Teresa Mendoza, Verónica Falcón (“Besos de Azúcar”) as Camila Vargas, Joaquim de Almeida (“Our Brand is Crisis”) as Epifanio Vargas, Jon Ecker (“Narcos”) as Güero, Peter Gadiot (“Tut”) as James Valdez, Hemky Madera (“Weeds”) as Pote Galvez and Gerardo Taracena (“Apocalypto”) as Cesar “Batman” Guemes. The series’ season one finale featured a special guest star crossover appearance by Rafael Amaya (“El Señor de los Cielos”) as Aurelio Casillas. David T. Friendly (“Little Miss Sunshine,” “Courage Under Fire”) continues to serve as executive producer alongside new showrunner, Natalie Chaidez (“12 Monkeys,” “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”). QUEEN OF THE SOUTH Season 2 is currently in production.
