Stellan Skarsgard’s actor son Bill Skarsgard has been cast to take on Tim Curry’s creepy clown Pennywise in the remake of It.
The Maze Runner’s Will Poulter was originally attached to the film, but dropped out due to a scheduling conflict. The film will be directed by Mama filmmaker Andres Muschietti, following Cary Fukunaga’s departure from the project over creative differences last year (15).
The film is slated for release next year (17) and will be based on Stephen King’s 1986 novel about Pennywise, an evil monster who abducts children disguised as a clown. According to Variety.com, movie studio bosses are planning a sequel which centres on the children who face the monster as adults.
The original film was released in 1990.
