Rihanna is set to hit the big screen in the upcoming fantasy/sci-fi movie Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.
Luc Besson, the film’s director, announced the casting news today on Twitter, also confirming that RiRi has a “big part” in the flick.
There’s no news yet on just what role Rihanna will play, but we do know she’ll be joined by model (and Paper Towns actress) Cara Delevingne, who has the role of Laureline. Dane DeHaan, whom you might remember from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, will play Valerian in the movie, and Clive Owen is set to appear as Commander Arün Filitt. This isn’t Rihanna’s first time acting: She starred in 2012’s Battleship, lent her voice to this year’s animated Home, and made cameos in both 2014’s Annie and 2013’s This Is the End. Filming will kick off next January in France, and the movie is expected to be released to theaters on July 21, 2017. Regardless of how the actual movie turns out, we’re pretty psyched to see besties Rihanna and Cara hit the red carpet together.
