Ryan Reynolds Is The New Owner Of Aviation American Gin

The actor will be owner and chairman of the company behind the Portland-made spirit.

Move over George Clooney, there is a new Hollywood hunk promoting his own alcohol brand these days.

Davos Brands announced that actor, writer, producer and pretty much everyone’s #MCM, Ryan Reynolds, has acquired an ownership interest in Aviation Gin. Reynolds pursued the investment after tasting the gin for the first time. “Aviation is the best tasting gin in the world. Once I tried it, I knew I wanted to get involved with the company in a big way,” said Reynolds in a press release announcing today’s news.

The American gin is crafted in small batches in Portland, Ore. and has a unique botanical mix (cardamom, coriander, French lavender, anise seed, sarsaparilla, juniper and two kinds of orange peel), which the brand says results in a much smoother drinking flavor than typical London Dry gins. It is one of the world’s highest-rated gins with a 97-point score from Wine Enthusiast.

“If you think all gin tastes the same, you’d be mistaken,” says Reynolds, who enjoys his on the rocks. “Aviation is in a completely different league and I couldn’t be prouder to be a part of the company.”

Aside from the financial investment, Reynolds will play an active role in the day-to-day business and oversee creative direction as part of his mission to introduce the world to Aviation. Though don’t bet on seeing his wife, Blake Lively, imbibing — the actress has talked in the past about not being fond of alcohol.

“We couldn’t be happier that Ryan discovered Aviation. He wholeheartedly embodies the authentic, original spirit of Aviation Gin,” said Andrew T. Chrisomalis, CEO of Davos Brands. “Ryan has worked tirelessly to create some of the world’s most iconic media properties and will bring that drive and creativity to sharing Aviation with the world.”

Aside from retail stores like Bevmo, power dining spots around L.A. such as Rustic Canyon in Santa  Monica, Wolfgang’s Steakhouse and the Beverly Hills Hotel offer Aviation Gin cocktails.
