According to E! Online, the infamous Duchess of York, who was once married to Prince Andrew, told Winfrey that being left out of the big day was “so difficult,” adding, “I wanted to be there with my girls…to be getting them dressed and to go as a family.”
Her daughters, Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, attended the wedding with their father, and caused quite a stir with their interesting wardrobe choicesfor the big event.
Ferguson understands why she was not welcome at the royal event, but said it still stung to be an outsider.
“I went through the phase of feeling so totally worthless and that [it] was quite right they didn’t invite me. Why would they, why would they invite me?” she asked. Ferguson also noted that it was hard because “the last bride up that aisle was me,” she said, referring to her 1986 wedding to Prince Andrew.
So while the royal family celebrated at the wedding and receptions, Ferguson decided to go on vacation to get out of London. “I chose to go and be in Thailand in a place called Camelia…the jungle embraced me,” she told Winfrey.
The Duchess also touched on the subject of Will and Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, who was certainly missed on that special day.
“I think Diana would be proud of her son,” she said. “Both of them, you know? They did a great job.”
Winfrey’s interview with Ferguson, whose new show ‘Finding Sarah’ premieres on the OWN network next month, airs Wednesday.
