On August 8, the music-trade publication monitorLATINO presented its annual Radio Awards in Mexico City as part of its influential Digital Summit.
During the awards ceremony, SESAC Latina affiliate Mauricio L. Arriaga was honored with the prestigious ¡Gran Maestro! award for his legacy of artistic contributions. He is one of the youngest recipients of this honor.
This composer, producer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting but launched his professional music career in 1999. Since then, he has worked on hit albums from Calibre 50, Intocable, Alejandro Fernández, RBD, Thalía, Luis Fonsi, Natalia Lafourcade and Pepe Aguilar, among many others.
His composition “Todo Tuyo,” performed by Banda El Recodo, won the 2015 Latin GRAMMY® for Best Regional Mexican Song. In addition, two of his compositions were included on Latin GRAMMY®-nominated albums in 2017.
A prolific composer of theme songs and incidental pieces for telenovelas, he has played a major role in promoting Regional Mexican music on these programs, with his work being featured in such novelas as Antes Muerta Que Lichita, Yo No Creo En Los Hombres and Amor de Barrio.
SESAC Latina congratulates Mauricio L. Arriaga, an artist who outdoes himself year after year, for this career-spanning accolade!
