SESAC Latina artists are well-represented amongst the nominees for the prestigious 2016 Premios Tu Mundo. Among the finalists are the urban-music pioneer NICKY JAM, the Regional Mexican chart-toppers CALIBRE 50, the standout Mexican pop trio REIK, and the renowned Cuban duo Randy Malcom and Alexander Delgado – GENTE DE ZONA.
The fifth annual Premios Tu Mundo (Your World Awards) will take place Thursday, August 25, and are to be telecast live on Telemundo from the American Airlines Arena in Miami.
NICKY JAM returns as a nominee, this time in two categories: Favorite Urban Artist and Party-Starting Song as the songwriter and performer of “Hasta El Amanecer” (Until Dawn). The song has hit #1 on Billboard’s flagship Hot Latin Songs chart and several other charts.
Sharing the lead with two nominations is GENTE DE ZONA, in the categories of Favorite Tropical Artist and Party-Starting Song, for their hit “Algo Contigo” (Something With You).
Also is REIK, nominated in the category of Favorite Pop Artist; and CALIBRE 50, for Favorite Regional Mexican Artist.
In the Regional Mexican category, all of the finalists have recorded songs by SESAC Latina artists on their latest albums. The other finalists are: Banda El Recodo de Cruz Lizárraga, Julión Álvarez y Su Norteño Banda and Régulo Caro. It’s further proof that SESAC Latina is the most progressive performing-rights organization in the industry.
