Written by SESAC Latina affiliate Edén Muñoz and performed by his band Calibre 50, the new single “Las Ultras,” which refers to a particular brand of liquid refreshment, is the #1 single on the Billboard Regional Mexican Airplay chart for the magazine’s July 1, 2017, edition.
Edén Muñoz, a recent winner of several SESAC Latina Awards, is a songwriter, musician, lead singer and the frontman of the Mexican group Calibre 50, which has racked up nine #1 hits since 2013.
The lyrics of “Las Ultras” refer to “the art” of enjoying life, especially in the summer, by offering this toast to beat the heat: “Some Ultras for your thirst.”
“Las Ultras” is the third Muñoz-penned Regional Mexican Airplay chart topper in just six months. It was preceded by his band’s March #1 hit “Siempre Te Voy A Querer” (I’m Always Going to Love You) and his January #1 hit “Tengo Que Colgar” (I Have to Hang Up), performed by Banda MS.
Calibre 50 is one of Regional Mexican music’s top airplay and touring acts. This award-winning foursome comprises Alejandro Gaxiola, Armando Ramos, Edén Muñoz and Erick García. The streaming platform Spotify reports that the group is heard by over 2.2 million users per month.
