SESAC LATINA TAKES CENTER STAGE AT
NICKY JAM CONCERT
ARTIST PRESENTING WITH FIVE AWARDS
The world tour of the SESAC Latina-affiliated artist Nicky Jam arrived in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, where he sold out the Microsoft Theatre LA Live. At this prestigious venue, the pioneer of Latin-urban music performed the hits that have made him one of the industry’s most influential artists. Taking a pause during his performance in L.A., he turned to a pair of special guests –SESAC Latina Director Celeste Zendejas and Marketing Manager Nelson González. To a standing ovation, they presented him with five awards, including SESAC Latina Song of the Year 2016 for “El Perdón” (Forgiveness, feat. Enrique Iglesias), which spent over 30 weeks at #1 on several charts, including Billboard’s flagship ranking Hot Latin Songs. The other awards Jam received were for his recent Billboard #1 hits “Hasta El Amanecer” (Until Dawn), “Como Lo Hacía Yo” (Like I Did It), “El Perdón” (Forgiveness) and “Sunset.”
Juan Diego Medina, another SESAC Latina-affiliated producer-songwriter and member of Nicky Jam’s songwriting team, was recognized at the Microsoft Theatre for his contributions to “El Perdón” and “Hasta El Amanecer. Jam had been unable to accept these accolades during the SESAC Latina Awards ceremony which took place in June in Beverly Hills, as he was on a European tour.
Ticket sales from his Fénix Tour prove that not only does Jam dominate the sales and airplay charts, but he’s also an extraordinary draw for young concertgoers.
The winner of seven Premios Billboard this year, including Latin Song of the Year for “El Perdón,” Nicky Jam has also triumphed at the Latin Grammys; Premio Lo Nuestro; iHeartRadio Music Awards 2016; and the Viña del Mar, Chile, Song Festival, where he received the Golden and Silver Seagull. Most recently, he won two trophies at Univisión’s Premios Juventud (Youth Awards). He is currently nominated at Telemundo/NBC’s upcoming Premios Tu Mundo (Your World Awards) in the categories of Favorite Urban Artist, and Party-Starting Song (“Hasta El Amanecer”).
