Seth Rogen Is Working With The Lonely Island To Create A Movie Quite A Bit Similar To The Fiasco At Fyre Festival

Seth Rogen And The Lonely Island

If you’ve been paying attention to the internet over the past couple days, you’ve likely noticed the trending topic “Fyre Festival” come up more than once. That’s because the music festival on the island of Fyre Cay in the Bahamas (which doesn’t really exist) created by Ja Rule and Billy McFarland featuring performances by Blink 182, Migos and Major Lazar, marketed towards the super rich party people of the Instagram generation, turned into a complete nightmare.

Attendees described it as a Lord of the Flies scenario that looked much like a refugee camp. There was a shortage of food, incomplete lodging areas, looting of booze, even more booze given away for free when attendees were extremely unhappy at the total lack of infrastructure, some parts of the festival were overrun with rats and their droppings, and eventually a serious lack of flights for people to abandon the festival when it was completely canceled after the first day.

Funnily enough, it turns out Seth Rogen is working with The Lonely Island on a music festival comedy where the festivities go horribly wrong. Find out more after the jump.

Here’s what Seth Rogen tweeted at the beginning of the weekend when the bad buzz about the festival started:

The Lonely Island followed up with this reaction to the nightmare of the Fyre Festival:

It sounds like the comedy masterminds were working on The Lonely Island music festival comedy before the Fyre Festival became a disaster, though plenty of people will still think the idea came from this real life situation. But now they can probably take some cues from this insane screw-up and poke fun at this the Fyre Festival.

Considering the outstanding quality comedy that came from The Lonely Island in the form of the criminally underseen Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, a music festival comedy gone wrong has the potential for plenty of hilarity. There could even be a cameo from Conner 4 Real and the Style Boyz..

The biggest question I have is whether this music festival goes wrong in an exaggerated version of the Fyre Festival where attendees are forced to form tribes and go to war with each other for food, water and supplies, or will there be a more insane reason for the festival going wrong. One fun angle might be if there was some kind of zombie outbreak and we get a genre mash-up along the lines of This Is The End. We’ll just have to patiently wait and see what path this movie will take.
